Liverpool's Star Issues Regret to Teammates, Reveals Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has disclosed that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the entire Liverpool squad following the uproar from his televised remarks.
What Happened
Salah was left out from a key Champions League match after voicing frustrations and suggesting his relationship with manager had deteriorated.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction stayed normal. “He was the exact same Mo, he was smiling and everybody was exactly the same with him,” the midfielder explained.
The midfielder also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “It's clear there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just not start, then I think that’s concerning.”
Team Form
The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the games following the interview fallout. Jones believes the Salah's words were never meant to cause disruption.
“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a place of caring,” Jones concluded. “It's behind us and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and starting to win games.”
