Netflix Casts Spot-On Star for Bon Clay in the Hit Series Season 3
The Secret Organization is geared up to exert significant influence in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, even if the real showdown won’t unfold until season 3, and a cherished, popular member has just been cast.
Netflix announced Tuesday that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Bentham. Bon Clay can use their power to transform into an identical duplicate of any person they’ve made contact with with their main hand. Escola, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will depict a version of that role reimagined as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag queen, in the live-action series, differing from the initial comic and cartoon version.
The new cast member will work alongside multiple new cast members tasked with bringing Baroque Works to the screen, including chief Mr. 0, played by the seasoned performer, a talented actress as a key member, and a familiar face, who also joins the cast as the ruler of the desert kingdom.
Though the role is a major member of Baroque Works, the character won’t make their debut One Piece season 3. Given the second season likely to portray the Little Garden storyline, this signals a major departure in the placement of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could indicate more adjustments to the narrative framework.
Escola’s blend of precise humor and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the character. Besides their latest vocal work in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for writing and starring in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, showcasing the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded figures.
The platform’s adapted One Piece series is scheduled to come back for its next installment on March 10th, 2026.
