Trump Organization Sought to Bring In Almost 200 Employees on Visas in 2025
Donald Trump’s corporate entity increased its hiring of overseas employees on temporary visas this year, while his government was placing obstacles for other businesses wanting to do the same, an analysis published recently stated.
Based on data from the US Department of Labor, the business sought to hire at least nearly 200 foreign workers in the coming year for temporary positions at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, golf facilities and his Virginia winery.
The number of applications for H-2A and H-2B visas for staff including waitstaff, office assistants, cleaning staff, culinary employees and farm workers was the record filed by the organization, and increased from over 120 in 2021, when Trump’s first term ended.
It was also the fifth time in a decade that Trump had attempted to bring in more than 100 foreign employees for seasonal jobs at Mar-a-Lago, based on labor statistics.
The revelation comes amid a tightening on immigration laws by his government that has involved the introduction of a substantial charge on H1-B visas; increased review of the activities of the millions of people who possess American work permits; and restrictive new rules for foreign students and reporters.
Overall, the business aimed to employ over 560 foreign laborers over the period Trump has been in the presidency, from 2017 to 2021 and during the upcoming year.
Notably, Trump was criticized by some in the Republican party this period for comments defending the necessity for overseas employees when a business was unable to find people with “specific talents” to occupy certain positions.
“You can’t just say a nation is coming in, going to spend $10bn to construct a facility, and going to take people off an jobless roster who haven’t worked in five years, and they’re going to start making their defense systems. It isn’t feasible that well,” he told a interviewer after it was implied that foreign workers lower the wages of US workers.
The White House refused a request for response, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an request for information.
